"Study ways  on how to  make your own local grievance cell / police station / RWA operate more effectively and caringly  especially towards adolescent related issues and present your recommendations to  your ward councilor or Panchayat or District / Block /Village Child Protection Officer / Executive team."

Experience -  

At first they couldn't figure out how to conduct the study in their community, but slowly they understood that how to conduct a study in the community through ‘Google’ and ‘You tube” .In this process their Centre- in- charge helped and guide them a lot. Due to her positive initiative and proper guidance, they understood the meaning of” Study” and “grievance cell”. Actually, this is the first time they are introduced with these two wards “Study “ & ’Grievance Cell ”,They never known before this exercise. After known these two wards they have started conversation with their peer group and elders in their Para or Mahallah through their discussion, they found that Para / Mahallah dwellers have lot of issues or many grievances related to Child Protection against local service providers or Kolkata Municipal Corporation as well as Government. After such exercise, they have decided to prepare a Grievance collection box for Child protection will be fixed at ward office-48, in jurisdiction of ward councillor. As per their decetion ,they collected money from their peer group and prepare a curtain, as grievance collection box for child protection and which will be fixed at ward office 48  under control of ward councillor. Dipanjan, Ankit and their friends went to Ward office -48 and meet councillor and spoken about Grievance Collection Box for Child Protection. After listen to them, Councillor appreciated a lot for adolescent initiative and said that In this moment, he is busy for KMC election after election, he will definitely fix up a grievance collection Box for Child Protection in the ward office. They are not demoralised. Now, They are planning to put up that Box in front of the School. The work is progressing...

Learning –

1. .Don’t feel shy and start communication ( with in and with others)
2. More confident about themselves and increase self esteem
3. Cooperative learning and collective approach
4. Dynamics of political leaders.
5. Build peer group and utilize the value of unity, through those principal ,we can bring changes in our life and remove evils from society.

 

Challenge-

During the starting of the task they faced some hurdles, few of them expressed below:

1.  They got less support from their family. They realises that family support is very important for such type of community development activities.
2.  Since it was their first task, they are lacking confidence.

In the beginning they got criticized among their peer group. But gradually they build up a strong leaders
