Exposure visit to know about water pollution

Jagrik name – Rupali and Kulsam

Task – Organize an exposure trip for atleast 10 students to visit the local water bodies to assess the sources of water pollution and prepare a report on the same. Present the same  to 30 adolescents and their parents and also write to the NGT/ Concerned duty bearer.

The task has been performed by Kulsum and Rupali of Kalidaha, Bishnupur, Rampurhat 2 , Birbhum.

Experience — They formed a group of 10 peers from the locality. They visited ponds and canals of the locality whose water are dirty enough and become stagnant. They examined the water and traced an awful smell always comes from the place. They found out that the people of the locality actually used those water bodies as dustbin. They threw out the garbage in the pond which infected the water and even many fatal diseases could be transmitted from it.

Challenge — The biggest challenge they faced that the people of the community who were restricting them to go to the water bodies. The villagers were also very inquisitive about their task and they were making faces and mocking at them. The villagers thought the initiative of the children is childish enough. They could not write the petition and project it in front of the community.

Learning — They learnt people should be much more serious about the environment and nature. Everyone should perform a task to protect nature.
