Sharing Jagrik experience Case -2 (Self) Jagrik Name- Saniya Rahman Organization -SANLAAP Community Group- Bejoy Sangha Club Cohort no - 3 Task-FR1SG1 Abstain from sugar/T.V./Favorite Toy/Phone/Games or any other “addiction “? Something you covet for a week, verified by three people/ parents/jagrik partners/friends, understand how the less privileged manage without these. Discuss your experience with at least 5 peers. Experience- Saniya Rahman is IX standard student of Bankim Ghosh Memorial Girl's High School. The school is situated on Khiddirpore beside the bank of river Ganges/ River Hooghly at Western side of Kolkata. She belongs to Watgunje Road at Khiddirpore Red light area. From her childhood, she used to face large no of vulnerable, poor and less privileged children in her vicinity from different areas. She feels that poverty is one of the greatest evil of our society. She belongs to poor economic marginalized family .As per her task, She identified 3 things, those were T.V, Mobile Phone and her Teddy bear and she will abstain from those above mentioned things and covet for a week. It was mentioned which will be verified by three people, parents/jagrik partners/friends. As per the task rule She was communicated to her mother, Jagrik friend Razia Sultana and local friend Manisha Kumari that they should watch her regularly, that Saniya Rahman should not use and avoid/Covet for a week, those 3 things like T.V, Mobile Phone and her Teddy bear In the beginning, abstaining from the 3 things was difficult as it was habitual but later the habit has changed and She understand without those 3 things ,she can manage to live happily. Through this experience, she realise that how the less privileged manage without these. After such experiences, She found 5 Peers (Manjit, Akram, Razia, Manisha and Monika ) from her locality and explained how the less privileged children can manage their life without T.V, Mobile Phone and Teddy bear because nothing is essential and everything depend on habits. Learning : 1. Nothing is essential and everything depends on habit. 2. Gather experiences and change habits. 3. Develop sense and differentiate between good and bad habits. 4. Understand how the less privileged children can manage their needs. 5. Sharing own experiences with others and understand between Privileged and less privileged Challenges: 1. In the beginning, abstaining from the 3 things was difficult as it was habitual 2. Family and peer support is very important.
