Experience-

The peer pair co-created a standard code of conduct along with their teachers and parents for students, teachers and parents that will bring the best potential of all concerned.

Following are the code of conducts they mention:

The code of conduct for students:

  • All students must uphold academic integrity, respect all persons and their rights and property and safety of others; etc.
  • Students are not permitted to either audio or video record lectures in class rooms or actions of other students, faculty, or staff without prior permission.
  • Students are expected to use the social media carefully and responsibly. They cannot post derogatory comments about other individuals from the Institute on the social media or indulging in any such related activities having grave ramifications on the reputation of the Institute.
  • Students are restricted from any act of discrimination (physical or verbal conduct) based on an individual’s gender, caste, race, religion or religious beliefs, color, region, language, disability, or sexual orientation, marital or family status, physical or mental disability, gender identity, etc.
  • Students are prohibited from smoking, sale or distribution or consumption of prohibited drugs, alcohol etc., possession or use of weapons, explosives, or destructive devices.
  • Al students are restricted from any kind of violations of the Sexual Harassment Policy of the Institute against other students of the Institute and are also restricted from physical assault, threats of violence, or conduct that threatens the health or safety of any person including other students of the Institute.

The code of conduct for teachers:

  • No teacher shall knowingly or willfully neglect his/her duties.
  • No teacher shall discriminate against any student on the ground of caste, creed, language, and place of origin, social and cultural background.
  • No teacher shall indulge in, or encourage, any form of malpractice connected with examination or any other school activity.
  • No teacher shall make any neglect in correcting class-work or home work done by students.
  • All the teachers are strictly forbidden from inflicting any corporal punishment to any student irrespective of any compelling circumstances whatsoever they may be. Incidents of this nature will be viewed seriously by the school administration.

The code of conduct for parents:

  • Parents shall help their children understand that in a democratic society appropriate rules are required to maintain a safe, orderly environment.
  • Parents shall help their children deal effectively with peer pressure.
  • Parents shall convey to their children a supportive attitude toward education and the country.

Learning-

The peer pair understands the meaning of code of conduct as a set of rules outlining the norms, rules and responsibilities or proper practices and failing to obey the code of conduct can have negative consequences. This helps them to increase their knowledge about the rules as well as their determination to abide by the rules.

Challenges –

Since this task was done along with the teachers and the parents, the peer pair doesn’t face any such hard challenges.
