Experience –

Sayantika Roy is a VI standard student of Adi Mahakali Pathsala. The school is situated on Bidhan Sarani at Central Kolkata. She belongs to Premchand Baral Street at Bowbazar beside Red light area. From her childhood, she used to face large no of peers dropped out in her vicinity from different school.

She feels that dropout problem is one of the evil of our society. Now, she interested to teach little children those are living on street. As per her wish, she found few little toddlers living on street, which is nearer from her residence. Though they are irregular school children, nobody takes care of them. Now, she started to play with them every evening after coming from school. She becomes very friendly with them and introduced number learning activities through learning by doing ,play way method with those children, because her favorite subject is Mathematics.

At present, those kids are very loyal and waiting every evening for their Didi’s to come and play number activities and action rhymes with them..

Learning –

  1. To found little kids from road side and friendly with them.
  2. To accumulate trust from the street parents.
  3. To build up confidence among herself.
  4. Develop skills like communication, baby seeking, Problem solving, creative thinking, patience/ anger control, negotiation etc.
  5. To maintain regularity

Challenges-

  1. It’s her first task, So, it was a big challenge, that how to start or implement the teaching activity.
  2. Where to start such activity?
  3. Who will be the target group
  4. To build up trust among parents
  5. Family support is very important.
